Note: Feel free to start an RP with any of the dogs. So far only Wolf has been RPed with, so feel free to have your starving fox attempt to steal a chicken while Jerry(the Terrier)'s on fowl patrol or have a stray dog confront Doe or something.))
Dawn. A black-haired man arose at precisely six A.M. in the morning, snapping his fingers close to a blue-gray heap of curly fur that lay three feet away from the bedside. The bundle suddenly sprang to life, becoming a Kerry Blue Terrier that eagerly followed at his master's heels as the man tromped downstairs after he got dressed. Mark Trussel slipped his brown leather coat on, grabbed his wide-brimmed hat, and went outside into the crisp, cool morning. Coming to two doghouses, one painted red with a gold roof and the other painted blue with a silver roof, he whistled and clapped softly. As if they were robots, a huge Scottish Deerhound came trotting out of the red doghouse while a black Briard bounded out of the blue one. The two big dogs took the place of the smaller dog as the terrier set off towards the fowl pens at a brisk trot, beginning his daily inspection at the chicken coop.
Doe kept a brisk pace next to Wolf, who was easily keeping up with the master with his long legs and wolf-like physique of the Scottish Deerhound. The Briard was having to walk faster, her being shorter and having long black hair that slightly hindered her. But she kept her pace next to the gigantic dog while her short tail wagged side to side in a steady beat. Wolf's amber eyes sparkled with delight as Mark led them to a wide field, where it appeared that a huge cloud had fallen splat in the middle of it. But the cloud was in fact a large flock of sheep, more than sixty head of them. At a signal from their master, the two dogs each ran for separate sides of the herd, beginning to circle around it. Once the flock was in a large circle, the farmer came closer to inspect it to make sure no sheep had been lost. But just by looking at it for three long minutes, Mark knew some of the sheep had ran off and made a smaller herd. After telling Doe to stay and guard the sheep, he told Wolf to heel to help him find the stray sheep. The aptly named dog put his dark gray nose to the ground and snuffled carefully for a moment, before bounding towards the Northwest, into a wild meadow with several trees and sparse brush. Soon Mark was far behind Wolf as he bounded joyously towards the lost sheep, eating up more miles than was thought possible. After he found the sheep spread out over a small clearing, Wolf barked and turned backwards to receive his congratulations from Mark, but there was no one there. He had gone too fast again. Downhearted, Wolf decided to round up the sheep and keep an eye on them until his master found him, which he did before sitting down on the grass less than a stone's throw away from the flock.

There was another vaguely canine shape trotting amiably along through the long grass bordering the meadow. This however was smaller than the great Deerhound, by a long shot, and despite appearance this was no dog at all. Silver coat showing the odd flash as he passed through areas of lesser cover, Haze was on the move. He soon caught scent of the sheep and he turned towards them curiously, not yet noticing Wolf who was on the opposite side of the sheep, the woolly creatures forming a live barrier between them. The former city-fox, recently set out on his own, had never set eyes on a sheep before. He stared for a long moment, them gave his still slightly woolly tail an excited wag and trotted in for a closer look. All that fur! And such blank, vacant faces! And that smell! Haze wasn't scared of the sheep, which moved so slowly he knew he could outrun them without effort, and he could see they were cropping grass which meant they weren't dangerous, anyway. But their strong scent had hidden Wolf's scent from him, and the unwary young dog-fox was coming yet closer to the flock in his curiousity.

OOC: Do you mean dog-fox as in dog-fox hybrid or dog-fox as in a pet fox? IC: Suddenly, the Deerhound's sharp nose caught the scent of another canine approaching the sheep on the other side of the herd. His amber eyes flashed like lightning as he cut the herd in half via darting right through the middle of it towards what Wolf assumed was a predator. If he had ran around the herd instead, the predator would have been able to run around the herd the same direction as Wolf and would have an opportunity to cut out a valuable sheep. The huge, scary-looking dog skidded to a halt in front of the small silver creature, snarling and bristling as if he actually was a wolf instead of simply a wolf-like dog. It was apparent Wolf didn't let others mess with his master's property.

((OOC| Dog fox is what I call a todd or male fox - it's an English thing, not that I am English, it's just the phrasing I've grown up with Dogs and foxes cannot interbreed)) Haze saw the herd shift and pricked his dark ears, but he almost fainted at the leggy great beast sprinting towards him. For a moment the fox just stared, horrorstruck, then he dropped to his belly, hitting the ground as if he expected the recently short-cropped grass to camouflage him. Which, of course - it didn't.

OOC: 'Kay. Just checking.)) IC: When the huge dog realized what he thought was a predator was simply a harmless old fox, he sat down and heartily laughed at himself. Of course, you couldn't blame him. You can never be too careful when you're herding. "Ha! Hello there, fox. I mistook you for a predator more dangerous to my owner's sheep. As far as I know, foxes don't hunt prey any bigger than hares. You can get up, I'm not going to eat you or anything," The amber eyes that flashed like lightning less than a minute ago were now as gentle as a mother cat carrying her kits in her careful jaws. And they laughed as much as physically possible for eyes to laugh.

For a few seconds, sure this was some trick of the monstrous animal, Haze lay there like a furry silver rug. When he didn't disappear into the dog's great jaws, he cautiously opened one eye. Then the other, then he sat up, still looking nervous. "Sheep, is that what these cloudy things are? I wasn't going to eat one, they're way too big. I've never caught a hare, either." He remarked, never taking his eyes off the deerhound.

OOC: 'kay. :3 IC: "Yes, that's what those animals are. In my distress and haste to defend them, I didn't take time to identify your scent, so I didn't consider the fact that you weren't a threat," The dog turned around and lay down, facing the sheep that had rejoined with his keen eye. "To humans, one of which is my master, they are very important. I don't know why, but it may be for their coats that make them appear as clouds,"

((OOC| I'm back again ) Haze found it prudent to keep a short distance between them - it struck him this big canine could take one step for every three that he himself might. Even though he seemed friendly enough. It reminded Haze of talking to his father, a bit, who always knew so much. "Is that what you do? Protect these sheeps?" Asked the guileless silver fox. "For a human, you're a pet, like the dogs in the city?"

"Pretty much," replied Wolf. "It's a good life. All the food and companionship I could ever need and a good job to keep me from getting bored. How are things in the forest?" he woofed invitingly, thumping his tail on the ground twice.

Haze's still-woolly tail circled uncertainly. "I don't know." He replied honestly. He felt a bit foolish, talking to this dog who seemed to know so much more than he did... but then, just about everybody did. "I was born a city fox. But my father was a proper wild fox and he told me about life out here." He pointed with his muzzle to the horizon away from the city.

OOC: Nah, it's fine. :3 IC: Wolf raised his eyebrows. "Interesting. I was born a stray, in the woods, in fact. When I was young I stumbled upon the farm, and now it's my home. As you might have guessed, the woods are important to me,"

Haze looked the big dog over from his paws to his ears and tried to imagine him as a puppy. No - he simply could never have been so small, decided the fox. His ears pricked in interest. "What's the woods like?" He asked innocently.

Wolf put his head on his paws. "I don't know what it's like today. I haven't been there for a year and a half at least. Last I saw it it was full of life, with birds chirping and foxes roaming. It must've been late spring in that case. Then it gradually got warmer, and then colder. The leaves all turned different colors and fell off the trees, and that's when I started roaming around the farmland for a warm place to call home."

"You mean like a den?" Asked the clueless silver dogfox, not quite able to picture living alongside a person voluntarily. He'd left the city so that he wouldn't have to deal with the bright-eyed monsters and the sharp scents belonging to the humans. His mind flicked to the thoughts of the forests and the leaves fluttering to the ground, like the small, stunted city trees did. His tongue lolled in a grin.

Wolf shrugged. "Kind of like a den. Anything would work, really. The humans' house has many rooms, one for each member and then some. They even built me and my fellow farm dog, Doe, our own dens."
